DEATH OF MRS. REUBEN COREY
Jane Elizabeth, the beloved wife of Reuben Corey, passed away at her home in San Jose Sunday morning.
The visitation of the Angel of Death was not wholly unexpected, as the deceased had been ill for some time, suffering
fron that insidious disease, consumption, superinduced by several severe attacks of pneumonia.
The maiden name of the deceased was Jane Elizabeth Best. She was born in Canada, April 6, 1844. At
an early age she came west and thirty-nine years ago was married to Reuben Corey, besides whom three children - Mrs.
Florence Tice, Hiram D. and Miss Clara Corey - are left to mourn their irreparable loss.
Mr. and Mrs Corey resided in the Salinas Valley about twenty-five years, going from this city to San Jose
about two years ago. Mrs. Corey was a most excellent woman in every relation of life - a devoted wife, a loving mother,
and a kind neighbor, ever willing to do all in her power to help those in need. A host of friends in Salinas and
surrounding county will sympathise with the loved ones in their great bereavement.
Funeral services will be held in the Gabilan Street M. E. Church this afternoon upon the arrival
of the 1:46 train from San Jose. Interment in the I. O. O. F. cemetery.
