Shasta county was created in February 1850 as one of California's original 27 counties. It is even Older than the State of California which was not admitted into the Union until September 1850. Shasta County took its name from the town of Shasta, the county seat at the time.

Hello and welcome to the Shasta County site of the California USGenWeb Project. The mission of the project is to provide a single entry point for all counties and towns within the state of California to collect and store historical and genealogical data.
