Well what a great day we had Tuesday!
In the morning Barbara and I had a productive visit to the Yolo Archive.
We met Mel Russell. A real dynamo. And she has a wonderful staff of volunteers--thanks to Shipley and Virginia. Togetherthey answered a lot of questions about my ggparents John F. and Martha Ellen CAIN's family, but as should be expected they created just as many more. We will be going back soon.
After a few hours at the Archives, we had a delicious lunch in Woodland at Morrison's. Then beginning about 1:30 pm we toured Hungry Hollow. We drove around taking digital pictures and recording longitudes and latitudes. Barbara stayed in the car with the computer on her lap. She did all the hard work. I had all the fun. She's great!
As the pictures will show we were blessed with a perfect day--warm and sunny. Evidence of the heavy rainfall just a few days earlier was all around us. I can see why our ancestors loved Capay and Hungry Hollow.
