There once was a cemetery on Monitor Pass dating to the mid to late 1800's and early 1900's. It was buried under Highway 89 when it was built in the 1950s. There are no existing records.

There was once a cemetery in Markleeville, two at Silver Mountain City, and one in Woodfords (private). For information about those, contact the Alpine County Museum.

A transcription of a Woodfords Cemetery survey follows. This cemetery was apparently located in the town square of Woodfords, California. Surveyor unknown. Listed on said survey is the following note:

“There is another, newer cemetery behind the town. This is now covered by tarvia and made into a parking lot. The stones were left where they stood and apparently are all that remain of the original burial ground.”

The Fredericksburg Cemetery was indexed by Nancy Thornburg in January 2003. No guarantee that this listing is complete. Some names have been omitted when it was not clear whether the stones indicated that they were in preparation for someone’s death.
