Fresno County Cemeteries

The Old Akers Cemetery

also known as

Old Kings River Cemetery

This pioneer cemetery is located near Belmont Avenue, on the west side of the Trimmer Road, which connects Kings Canyon Highway at Centerville and the Pine Flat or Trimmer Springs Road. There will soon be no identifying graves to make future locations possible, as destruction of the old burying ground is almost complete.

In 1958 a monument was erected by relatives in memory of the Fresno County Pioneers buried in this place. These are the names on the monument with the dates given. The information is as accurate as possible, though there may be some differences in spelling or ages.

In 1965 a record was made and at that time twenty eight monuments, readable but damaged. Now there are only five or six, and these all badly damaed by vandals. (1970)
