Spadra Cemetery, Pomona

The Louis Phillips mansion was located about a mile from the cemetery where the town of Spadra was, no longer existings, in the Pomona Valley. The area was once a bountiful farming community with few country roads and oak trees, now interlaced with freeways, industry and hundreds of houses.

Louis Phillips and is wife Esther Ann Blake Phillips are buried in the Spadra Cemetery. Their dates in the family Bible read that Louis Phillips was born on "22 day of April A D 1829" and Esther Ann Blake "7th Jan 1849, " but on their tombtone 1829 reads 1830 and 1849 reads 1848.

Location of Spadra Cemetery: turn off FF 57 to the Temple off ramp, left on Temple to Pomona Boulevard, right on it to underpass of 57ff, then immediately turn right and drive into the trucking concern lot and park. Walk through the county right of way to the railroad tracks and walk over the cemetery, which is amid a grove of oak and pepper trees. It is plotted in family plots; many stones are missing but have been cleaned up and some stones salvaged.

The stones read:
