Founding Families Of Long Beach
Loper, George
George Loper came to Long Beach in 1887 via covered wagon from Oregon. He attended the first school on Willow Avenue and lived on a ranch on Perris Road (now Santa Fe Avenue). He was the first City Marshall and carried out his duties mounted on a horse. He died in 1963. He had a sister, Sarah Garrison. Her son resides in Long Beach.
