Siskiyou County Reference Books and Lookup Volunteers

I have listed many of the Siskiyou County books that are available, although certainly not all. If you own any Siskiyou County books, whether listed or not, and will do lookups, please let me know. As you can see, volunteers are needed.

The USGenWeb's Official Copyright Policy

When requesting a lookup please put Siskiyou County Lookup in the subject line of your request to insure the message is not overlooked or accidently deleted. In the first line of the message please put the name of the book you are requesting the lookup in.

The USGenWeb Project's Official Copyright Policy:

The USGenWeb Project will not tolerate any copyright violations. Lookup requests should be limited to one name, or perhaps two if it is a married couple. Information given should be minimal, for example:

• If it is a cemetery lookup, the information should be the name of the cemetery and the dates on the headstone.
• If someone asks for "everybody with X surname" or an entire family group, or for hardcopies to be mailed, please advise that The USGenWeb Project volunteers have been asked not to comply with such requests.

Lookups can extend to searching the copyrighted material to determine if the material would be helpful to the requester in their research. Should the copyrighted material prove useful, the volunteer can provide the author's address and ordering information.

The USGenWeb Project will endeavor to get a WRITTEN statement from each copyright holder which stipulates which books may be used for lookups. See Lookup Permission Statement.

If you request a lookup, don't forget to thank your volunteer for their time.

If you know of any books or resources that would be helpful for Siskiyou County please send me an email, with the title of the book, the author, who to contact and the cost and I will add it to the list.

For public domain lookups, please post a query on my query page. If information is located for your name, it will still be your responsibility to obtain any copies you need for verification. We can not provide hardcopies for you. I have provided the address and phone number for the Siskiyou County Recorder's Office for your convenience.

Volunteers are still needed for lookups. If you wish to volunteer, please contact me via email at w6uyf@earthlink.net.

     To request a death certificate, please include:
                          1.  name of decedent
                          2.  date of death
                          3.  place of death
                          4.  reason for need of death certificate
                          5.  $8.00 check or money order, made payable to "Siskiyou County Recorder"

                then send all of this to the Siskiyou County Recorder's Office above.
 

Brandi Mohr Lewis has graciously offered to share information with other Siskiyou County Researchers. She has lived in Siskiyou County, "down the Klamath River," for many years and is willing to share her memories. Here is what she sent me:

"I don't know how much I can contribute, however, if anyone wants to know about people that live down the Klamath River, I might have info. I grew up back in the mountains and knew a lot of the "old" families that lived in the hills. Names like Lang, Gibson and Heglers. I do not know dates. More like round figures. I knew these people as a girl and they were very old. I have a lot of very dear memories. If anyone is interested".
