Directions to Indian Diggings Cemetery
Information provided by Ronna Dumas

Indian Diggings Road is a dirt logging road, it is accessible by car but I wouldn't try it in the rainy season. There are several offshoot roads but the main road is pretty obvious. Stay on it.

From Diamond Springs take Pleasant Valley Road towards Somerset. At Gray Corners turn left on Fairplay Road. Fairplay Road dead ends at Omo Ranch Road, turn left. Take Omo Ranch Road for about 5 miles, pass the Indian Diggings Elementary School to Indian Diggings Road (just before Fancher's Christmas Tree Farm and turn right on Indian Diggings Road. You will follow this road for about 4 miles before you reach the cemetery. After about 1 1/2 miles you will pass a large clearing filled with Manzanita on the right, after about 2 miles you will pass a small deserted cabin on the left, it is green with a metal roof. After about 3 miles you will pass another large clearing, also full of Manzanita, on the left. Keep going until you reach a full 90 degree turn in the road (a much less used road will go straight) this will be at about 3 3/4 miles in. Follow the turn around and then go down the hill (at this point I had to stop and walk the rest of the way because the ruts in the road were too deep for my van). Follow the road until you come to a fork, then go to the right. Follow this road for just a few feet and the cemetery will be on the left.

The main road is obvious enough it would be very difficult to get lost but cell phones don't work out there so be sure to have plenty of gas.

I hope these directions make sense.

Note: The Indian Diggings Elementary School went on a field trip to the cemetery recently and transcribed all of the information you see here. This is the information they found on the headstones.
Thank you Indian Diggings Elementary School
