The death of Patrick McGill, Thursday, Feb. 17, removed another El Dorado county pioneer. He came to Placerville in '54 and mined on Bedford avenue, and later at Pacific. Afterwards, for 35 years, he drove stage for the Pioneer Stage Co., over the present Lincoln highway and was later employed a number of years by the Moores of Moore's station, now Riverton. The last five years he lived with Rupley Bros., for whom he formerly worked. He was 86 years of age, a native of Ireland, and leaves no known relatives. His funeral will be from Winchell's undertaking parlors, Saturday, Feb. 19, and Interment will be in Smith's Flat cemetery. |
