At Dry Creek, El Dorado Co., Cal. December 3. 1898, Mrs Mary P. Irish, a native of Boston Mass., aged 64 years 9 months and 24 days. Mary Pierce was born on February 7. 1834. She came to Jay Hawk, El Dorado county, in 1856 where her stepfather, Mr. Dorman, kept a general merchandise store. Was married in 1857 to Joseph Irish, who preceeded her in death eight months ago. She leaves four children, Charles F., Frank H., and Mrs. Rosie Swift of Georgetown, and Mrs. Emma Stanley, besides a sister Mrs. Ella McDonald of Haywards, and two half brothers, William and Nathan Dorman of San Francisco. Mrs. Irish had been a sufferer from cancer for the past three years, and her patient endurence during that time was extraordinary. She was a member of the M. E. Church of Georgetown. Large numbers from the surrounding towns, as well as from Georgetown, attended the funeral which took place from Odd Fellows’ Hall Sunday afternoon, Rev. Thos. Murrish conducting the services. |
