I have been trying for years to contact descendants of my gr. gr. grandfather, Larkin L. Anderson, and his 2nd. wife, Johanna Riley Gates. Larkin arrived in Georgetown, El Dorado Co. in 1852 and at one time was the town marshal. They later lived in Auburn, Placer Co., CA. Larkin died in 1894 and Johanna died Feb. 21, 1911.
They were the parents of two daughters: Eva Mae Anderson, born June 16, 1875; and Ida Jane Anderson, born Oct. 30, 1877; who married William Morton Hicks in the 1890's.
They had at least five children, maybe more: (1) Matilda Hicks, born ca. 1898; married a Mr. Bartholdy and was living in San Francisco in 1981 (2) Eva May Hicks, born ca. 1902, and married George Francis Rice, April 17, 1917 in Auburn; and later a Mr. Brown; (3) James Morton Hicks, born Feb. 7, 1904 and died Nov. 7, 1978 at Auburn Faith Community Hospital; (4) Albert L. Hicks, born ca. 1909; (5) Edward Hicks, born Sept. 18, 1910 and died May 24, 1981. He married a Verna Sappenfield. They were living at 3765 Grass Valley Highway, Auburn at the time of his death.
