Presently, I am trying to trace the movements of my great, great uncle, Francis Marion Cain. He was born in Hall County, Georgia on October 9, 1820. On December 22, 1836, Francis enlisted into the U. S. Armed Services and participated in the Indian Wars Removal here in Georgia. He was honorably discharged on July 3, 1838. He married Sarah Amanda Bell in Forsyth County, Georgia on September 11, 1845. In 1851, Francis left Hall County, Georgia for the gold fields in El Dorado, California. From what I have been able to develop, Francis' wife and children remained in Georgia. He stated in his General Affidavit for a Indian Wars veterans' pension and land grant, that he resided in Georgetown and Greenwood Valley, El Dorada County, California for most of the time between 1850 and 1860. Subsequent to this time, Francis moved to Sonora, Tuolumne County, California, where passed away on March 17, 1903.
As I stated earlier, I am trying to trace the movements of my uncle and I am presently at a "brick wall" in locating him in the 1860 El Dorada County, California Census. The local library here in Marietta has census film for the southeastern states only. If I could obtain confirmation that my uncle was a resident of El Dorado County during the taking of the 1860 Census and could obtain the enumeration district number and page number of his enumeration, then I believe that I could go on line and obtain a copy of that census report. Is there anyway that you might assist me in this matter? Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
