I believe my husband's people came to the Placerville region during the gold rush of '49. Their name was Casner and they lived in Carroll Co. MO before coming to CA. I know a few years ago there were Casners living in this area. The story goes that the Casners found gold and started for home, they got to Lexington, MO traveling in a raft on the Missouri
River. Somehow the raft capsized and they lost all their gold. This makes for a good story and I've heard it for many years. I would like to know if there are any records which would prove this story. The Casner first names would probably have been....John, Jonas, William,
Eben, and Henry Casner. Thank you.
