From a booklet put out by the Department Of Water And Power, City Of L.A. (for the information of the people of California). Title. FACTS CONCERNING THE OWENS VALLEY REPARATIONS CLAIMS. A total of 548 claims were filed for damages from City Of L.A. This after enactment of the Reparations Law of 1925, which very simply says that if L.A. took the water, they should pay, so claims were filed.
Adams A.O.Cement and Contracting Business. $ 4,015.50
Adams A.O. Household goods and Office fixtures $ 4,800.00
Adams A.O. Real Property $25,700.00
Huckaby Charles Real Property $ l,000.00
These are the only Wonacott and Huckaby claims filed, but there were no claims filed for ranchers, only for businesses. This was to compensate for the fact that there was no longer any business going on in the valley and everyone was going bankrupt, so these claims were for loss of their business. Do not have any record of amounts paid, these were only claims.
