A. Gerald Ogborn Private rites were planned for A. Gerald Ogborn, 83, former supt. Of Bishop Union high school district, who passed away July 1. He was born July 1, 1899, at Port Hueneme, the son of a Methodist minister. He received his AB degree from University of Redlands and his masters degree in education from USC. He was a member of Phi Kappa Phi honorary society. He served in the US armed forces in World War II, and was a Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy in World War II, with considerable service in the South Pacific. He was principal and coach at Burbank High School when he was offered the position of supt. Of Bishop Union high school district. He served in that capacity for 18 years, before retiring to Laguna Hills in 1971. He earned many honors in this area, including a life membership in the Bishop PTA. He was a long time member of Bishop Rotary Club and active in many civic affairs. He was also a member of the CIF council and the executive council. He is survived by his wife, Georgena, and son Lt. Pete Ogborn.
