Mrs. Ada Stofflet Within one day of having reached the fiftieth milestone on her journey through life, Ada, the beloved wife of Dr. J. H. Stofflet, quietly, and it is believed peacefully and painlessly, passed away, expiring at 3 p.m. August 18th at her home in Los Angeles. Mrs. Stofflet, the youngest daughter (three brothers being younger) in a family of eight children, was born August 19, 1877, in the town of Fulton, Michigan. She entered and completed her high school course in Vicksburg, Michigan, where she held a position as a teacher and where she shortly thereafter was married to John Howard Stofflet. Residence in Vicksburg was continued for a period of eight years, when they moved to Bishop, California, where she spent twenty-two years of her life, and then quite recently moved to Los Angeles, where, with aid of expert medical attention and care, it was hoped she might longer be spared to her family and friends. Her mother and a brother have preceded her in death, the mother passing away May 12, 1927. While interested and to some degree active in club work, her greatest interest and activity centered in and around educational matters, local and national Red Cross affairs, and the Presbyterian church, of which she was a devout member. She was a member of the Bishop high school board for eight years and County Chairman of the Junior Red Cross Chapter almost from the formation of the organization until her Heavenly Commander mustered her out of service. Her life, as we who knew her, seemed to be summed up in reverent acceptance and obedience to the will of her Heavenly Father, implicit faith in the promises of her Redeemer and unselfish, untiring service in any causes making for the uplift and betterment of humanity.
