Bill Peck Funeral services were held recently at Redding for Bill Peck, 61, golf pro at Furnace Creek, Death Valley, the past 14 years, who succumbed to a heart attack March 22. He had played golf in the morning. He was born Feb. 17, 1921 in Colorado Springs, CO. He attended school in Fallbrook and high school in San Diego before enrolling at San Diego State College. He served in the U. S. Navy in World War II, after which he lived in Redding where he owned a Studebaker/Packard agency and served as a deputy sheriff in Redding. He was an active member of Shasta County Sheriff's posse. He is survived by his wife Marion, son Michael James of Redding; two brothers, Bob, who runs Stove Pipe Wells Village, and George of La Puente; and a sister, June Barrett of El Cajon. He was well-known among Inyo-Mono golfers, especially Inyo Associates who held their annual tourney at Furnace Creek each January.
