Billie Jack Carter 1929 - 2003 Billie Jack Carter, born Aug. 12, 1929 in Bridgeport, TX, died Feb. 12, 2003 in Milton, FL from complications of diabetes after a long illness. Billie moved to San Diego with his family as a teen, graduating from La Jolla High School and La Jolla High School and attending San Diego Junior College before joining the Navy. He retired as Chief Petty Officer after 27 years. Billie later worked in Big Pine at Jack Rabbit Junction for 17 years, and was an avid fisherman in the Owens Valley. Billie retired again and moved to Milton, where he lived for the past 5 years. He is survived by his wife, Viona Carter; daughters, Sheila Brewer, Terrie Arant, Sandra Thomas and Sherrie Carter; son, Steven Carter; 10 grandchildren, all of Milton; sister, Doris "Pat" Lantz, of Sparks, NV, formerly of Glacier Lodge; and brother, Win Carter of Indio. Memorial donations in Billie's name may be made to the Diabetes Foundation.
