Bobby Joe Johnson 1931-2003 Graveside services for Bobby Joe Johnson of North Fork, ID will be conducted from the Salmon Cemetery in Idaho on Friday, Feb. 28 at 11 a.m. Jim McDonald and Francie Cranshaw will officiate. Bobby died at the age of 71 Friday, Feb. 21, 2003 at his home in North Fork. He was born March 26, 1931 in Benton, AR, the youngest of five children born to Fred and Lota Mae (Rowland) Johnson. The family moved to Los Angeles when Bobby was six years old. He attended school and graduated from Franklin High School in Highland Park with the Class of 1951. Later in life Bobby proudly served his country as an enlisted man and as an officer for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office. He enlisted in the Army in 1950 and served during the Korean conflict. In September of 1953, he returned to Los Angeles and joined the Sheriff's Office in 1954. Bobby worked mainly with juveniles and achieved the rank of Deputy 3. He retired in 1980. He was united in marriage with Sharon Lorrene Shellabarger on Jan. 9, 1960 in Pasadena, and born to this union was a daughter, Shelly. Following Bobby's retirement, they moved to Big Pine. He worked as a security officer in Bishop until 1992. Sharon and Bobby moved that year to North Fork, where he enjoyed life along the Salmon River. Bobby was a member of the American Legion Lloyd Shaw Post No. 67 for the past several years. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James and Fred Johnson; and sister Theda Roundtree. Bobby is survived by his wife, Sharon of North Fork; daughter and son-in-law Skip Brynelsen of Reno, NV; sister Lota Mae Richi and her husband, Zack, of Long Beach; sister-in-law, Donna DeMola and husband, Dan of Kent, WA; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
