Baby Girl Drowns In Big Pine Creek Funeral services were held Monday of this week in Santa Ana for Carolyn Sue Sturgill, three year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Burtis Sturgill of Santa Ana, who drowned in Big Pine Creek last Thursday afternoon about 4 o’clock. The tragedy occurred as her mother was attempting to take her picture alongside of the creek. The mother said she turned her back momentarily and the baby lost her footing and fell into the creek. By the time she was able to reach her she was some 150 feet down stream. The child’s body was taken to the Blake Funeral Chapel and then on to Santa Ana where the services were held. The baby was born Sept. 12, 1955 at Newport Beach. Beside her parents the little girl is survived by a sister.
