Private services have been held for 12-year Bishop resident 
Charles Joseph Payne, 72.

Born in Los Angeles on Oct. 20, 1930, Mr. Payne died on 
Jan. 29 at Northern Inyo Hospital in Bishop.

Survivors include sisters, Pat Savoy and Carol Falsey of 
Crescent City; brothers, John W. Payne of Santa Ana and 
Robert Howard Payne of Rogue River, Ore.; and numerous 
nieces and nephews.
