Clara Arizona Crabb Kopp 1926 - 2003 Services will be private for 15 - year Bishop resident Clara Arizona Crabb Kopp, 77. Born in Atherton, Miss. On April 30, 1926, Mrs. Kopp died on April 28, 2003. Clara married Harold Francis Kopp in 1945. They lived primarily in Venice, Calif. Before moving to Independence in 1958, where Harold began his career with the California Department of Fish and Game. During the 29 years that their family lived at Hot Creek State Fish Hatchery, Clara dedicated her time and talents to many town and county causes. She was a charter member of the Mammoth District Woman's Club, the Mammoth High School Board, and the School Election Board, which were all instrumental in getting a high school built in Mammoth Lakes. From 1968 - 1998 she was a charter member of the Mammoth Hospital Auxiliary. She contributed many hours organizing fundraisers, bond proposals and service on election boards with the goal of bringing a hospital to Mammoth Lakes. She became an honorary Hospital Auxiliary member in 1998. She organized many charity events, political campaigns, elementary and high school activities, and a program that gave hand-made quilts to the first patients of the new hospital. She also served several terms on the Mono County Grand Jury. Her heartfelt generosity reached deep into a community that she truly loved and that all can now enjoy. Harold and Clara retired and moved to Bishop, where they lived since 1988. Most importantly, her family said, she was always a caring, loving and supportive wife and mother. She has "left earth to rest with her heavenly Father," they said. Clara loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, hiking to backcountry lakes, exploring the desert and mountains, and was an accomplished seamstress. Many of her friends will remember her as the Avon Lady of Mammoth. Everyone will remember her as a fun, hardworking true friend. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Harold; one great-grandchild; 14 grandchildren; son Steven; and her three daughters, Jean, Chris and Dee Ann. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of the Owens Valley.
