Clark 'Skip' Somers


Memorial services will be held for 20-year Chalfant Valley 
resident Skip Somers, 54, on Monday, Jan. 27, at the Tri-
County Fairgrounds in Bishop at 12 p.m. Chaplin Dan Wilson 
of the California Department of Forestry will officiate. 
Food donations to the service would be greatly appreciated, 
the family said. They also requested no dress uniforms. A 
reception with refreshments will follow the services.

Born in Long Beach on July 15, 1948, Somers died on Jan. 18, 
2003 in Chalfant Valley.

Skip was Commissioner of the Chalfant Valley Fire Department 
and a member of the California Department of Forestry 
Firefighters, the Dozer Operators Group, the National Rifle 
Association and Ducks Unlimited.

He is survived by wife, Kathy Ann Somers of Chalfant Valley; 
son, Donald Somers of Chalfant Valley, son, Dustin Somers 
of Dayton, Nev., son, Logan Somers of Bishop, son, Josh 
Merritt of Chalfant Valley, son, Matt Merritt of Las Vegas; 
mother, Martha Somers of Newport Beach; sister, Sandy 
Spangler of Tustin, Calif.; and many special friends and 
extended family members.
