Clifford M. Smith The funeral of Clifford M. Smith occurred here last Friday, interment being in the Odd Fellows cemetery. He was killed in an automobile accident in Goldfield the preceding Sunday, breakage of a wheel on a car bringing about his death from internal hemorrhage. He was a nephew of Mrs. Woodson Rathjen, and was a native of Iowa, aged 25 years, 8 months, 26 days. His wife and their young child survive him. An announcement of the fatal accident, published in the Tonopah Times, says that a car wheel broke and threw Smith some distance, clear of the machine. It was not believed at first that he was greatly injured, but he soon began complaining of a severe pain in the stomach and a few minutes later he died. Aileen Stark, his cousin and the daughter of N. M. Stark, for whom he was working, was in the car and was much bruised and scratched. Richard Lamb, driving the car was unhurt.
