Cynthia Joyce McCarthy

Memorial services for Bishop resident Cynthia Joyce McCarthy, 69, will be held Saturday, Nov. 13, 2 p.m. 
at the Brune & Buck Mortuary Chapel.

Mrs. McCarthy died Nov. 8 in Bishop.

She was born in Big Pine on Aug. 3, 1924 to Howard and Dottie Wilson.  She spent her entire life here 
in the Owens Valley, except for a term of service in the U.S. Marine Corps, 1943-1945.  During that time 
she met John McCarthy at the Marine Base in Quantico, Va.  They were married March 31, 1945.  After the 
war they returned to Bishop.  Mrs. McCarthy had worked for the Bishop branch of Bank of America for 20 
years before retiring in 1980.

Survivors include her husband, John of Bishop; two sons, John Jr. of Bishop and Ken of Idaho Falls, 
Idaho; daughter, Susan Shaw of Yreka; sister, Mary Thomas of Big Pine; seven grandchildren and numerous 
nieces and nephews.
