Edwin Carl Greenway 1909 - 2003 Memorial services for Edwin (Ed) Carl Greenway, 94, who died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003 in Bishop, will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 24 at Eternal Hills Cemetery in Oceanside, with Rev. E. Robert Greenway officiating. Services will be held again on Oct. 25 at 11 a.m. at Moline Memorial Park in Moline, Ill. With Rev. Ken Kline, Rev. Charles Willey and Rev. E. Robert Greenway officiating at graveside. Mr. Greenway was born near West Liberty, Iowa on May 28, 1909. He attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He married; his first wife, Edythe Neil Broadwater, in Waterloo, Iowa in 1930. She preceded him in death after 52 years of marriage in 1982. In 1983, Ed married Violet Henrie Zeller and moved to Oceanside. Ed retired with 37 years of service from John Deere Company in 1972, having served in various management capacities. He was a dedicated elder and layperson of the First Church of Moline for 40 years. He enjoyed gardening, golf, playing cards and was a very active Rotarian, serving as president of the East Moline Rotary Club in 1971 and 1972, as well as district governor in 1973 and 1974 for District 6420 in Northern Illinois. He maintained a perfect attendance record for more than 40 years and participated in establishing numerous Paul Harris fellows. Ed was loved by everyone who knew him, never failing to lend a helping hand where needed. He was preceded in death by son, Michael Allen; grandson, Paul James Bladl; two brother and two sisters. Ed is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Violet; daughter, Nancy Lou Bladl of Lewisville, Texas; son, Rev. E. Robert Greenway of Ormond Beach, Fla.; stepdaughter, Renee Tomko of Bishop; nine grandchildren, Dr. Michelle Birdseye, Mitchell T. Greenway, Pamela Von Tursch, Susan Walden, Michael Bladl, Jonathan R. Tomko, Stephanie Tomko, Shane Newton, and Tracey Greene; and nine great-grandchildren. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Ed's name to the Memorial Fund at First Christian Church, 1826 26th St., Moline, IL 61265, or Bishop Rotary Foundation, P.O.
