Eleanor Magdelene Ellis 1911 - 2003 A mass and celebration of life, as well as a graveside service, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 27 at Santa Rosa Catholic Church in Lone Pine for Eleanor Magdelene Ellis. Rev. Father John Burns will officiate. Additionally, a Rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, September 26, also at the church. A longtime Lone Pine resident who was residing with her son in Selma, Ore., Eleanor died Thursday, Sept. 18, 2003. Eleanor was born on April 13, 1911 at Pat Kelly Farm in Guilford, Mo. After her marriage to Charles Everett Ellis in Missouri, the couple moved to Bakersfield and shortly thereafter to Lone Pine to raise their family. Charles died in Lone Pine in 1972. Apart from her busy life in building a home and raising six children, Eleanor was very active in the Santa Rosa Catholic Church parish, and also worked at Southern Inyo Hospital for many years. Eleanor was preceded in death by her son, Baby Paul Steven, and all of her nine brothers and sisters. She is survived by four sons, Richard, Rodney and Larry, all of Lone Pine, and John of Selma; two daughters, Mary Christensen of Sioux Falls, S.D. and Christy Dickman of Yakima, Wash.; and 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
