Ethel Boyd Funeral services will be held for Ethel Jeanette Boyd, 89, at the First Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 1 p.m. A Bishop resident for 53 years, Mrs. Boyd was born Oct. 5, 1912 in Meridian, Miss., and died at her home in Bishop on Oct. 5. Among her achievements was winning in 1969 California Mother of the Year, which was given to her to recognize her founding of the Servicemen's Mothers Club, which supported military personnel in Vietnam and other areas of operation during the sixties. She was also a founding member of the Women's Improvement Club, the Calico Quilters Guild, the Bishop Coin Club, and a member of the First Presbyterian Church, with a longtime participation in the Presbyterian Women's Association. She was a homemaker for her husband of 65 years, Andrew, and raised a family of three sons - William, Andrew Jr. and Daniel. Survivors include husband Andrew; sons, William, Andrew Jr. and Daniel, and their wives, Merna, Marie, and DeeAnn; grandchildren, Jody, Craig, Lora, Kristy, Andrew, James, William, Maureen, Jennifer, Bryan, Courtney, Casey, and Andrew Clayton; great-grandchildren, Nick, Cody, Mary Jane, and Lacey Usabel, Andrew Christoper and Hannah Boyd, William and McKenzie Boyd, and another great-grandchild due on Oct. 21. Ethel will be fondly remembered by all of her family and friends. Private interment will follow the services at the West Line St. Cemetery in Bishop.
