Funeral Services Held Nov. 25 for Fred G. Silva Funeral services were held in San Francisco and at the Blake Funeral Chapel Wednesday, Nov. 25 for Fred G. Silva who died in San Francisco November 20 following a heart attack. Fred was 55 years of age, son of a pioneer Glen Avon, California family. He was a second generation Californian. His father was a native son of Los Angeles, who homesteaded at Glen Avon ranch in the early 1890s. As a young man Fred left Glen Avon to live in Bishop, where he was employed by the Southern Sierras Power Co., predecessor of the California Electric Power Co. There he married Pearl Conway. To this union were born four daughters. For many years they resided in Lee Vining, where Fred was employed by the Department of Water & Power, City of Los Angeles, when they were constructing the Mono Basin Tunnel to take water to Los Angeles. When this work was completed the family moved to Sacramento and later to Reno. While residing there his first wife Pearl passed away. There he met and married Dorothy Finn. The family then moved to San Francisco, where he resided for the remainder of his life. Besides his widow, Dorothy, who lives at their home 1325 Pine St., San Francisco; he leaves a daughter Lucille Sohriakoff of Cupertino, Lois Silva of Marysville, Mary Ellen Ruddock of Pine Grove, California and Sister Carmel Marie (Beatrice), who is a teacher in the Dominican Order at St. Vincent's School at San Rafael, California, and five grandchildren. He also leaves three brothers, Frank Silva of Gen Avon, John of National City and Richard of Yuma; and three sisters, Mrs. Ellen Butler and Mrs. Edith Walker of Glen Avon and Mrs. Barbara Mendez of Riverside. Interment was at the Odd Fellows cemetery in Bishop.
