Burt Merithew

Frederick Burton, usually known as Burt, Merithew passed away some time Saturday night, 
in a small building he was occupying in the Keough addition.  He had been ill for some 
time, but those who had visited him from time to time had no anticipation that his case 
was immediately critical.  Persons with him Saturday found him fairly active and normal, 
but the first visitor Sunday morning found his body cold; death appeared to have come 
probably soon after midnight.

He was born in Maine June 3, 1858, and came to bishop in 1877.  This had been his home 
practically all the time since, during his active years as a carpenter and builder and 
in his later years of retirement.

He was married here and divorced.  He has a brother, Frank, somewhere in southern 
California, and two sons, Charles, whose residence is in Hollywood, and Howard.  Both 
the boys are now here with their mother.
