Funeral Services Held Monday for Freddie Lowe Southern Inyo was saddened this week to hear of the death of young Fredrick Martin Lowe, 20 years old. Freddie, who had been confined to Southern Inyo hospital in a critical condition for the past nine days, died on November 13. Born in Lone Pine September 13, 1939, he attended both grammar and high school here, having graduated with the class of 1958. An injury in his early youth is said to have been the start of a serious leg condition which necessitated surgery December 24th, two years ago and a week later an amputation. Since that time Freddie has had considerable medical attention and although making his home in the Southland most of the time in order to be closer to his doctors, he came home for a visit recently and be came ill while here. During his high school career he was active in basketball and football making many friends throughout valley schools during his athletic years. Carloads of these friends from all over the valley attended the funeral services on Monday. Rosary was recited Sunday night at the Santa Rosa Church in Lone Pine and Requiem Mass Monday morning at 10 o'clock, said by Father George Crowley, S.J. a long time friend of the family who came from his home in Los Gatos. Wm. J. Bauer sang at the services accompanied at the organ by Pauline Aigner. Richard Hammer came up from studies at Ventura College and served as an altar boy with Augie Perez, Kenny Aigner and Raymond Zeigler. Pallbearers were Terry Goodwin, Richard Berry, Mosie Gamboa, Buddy Garner, Norman Starks and Norman Bernard of Bishop. Burial was in Lone Pine cemetery. He leaves in his immediate family his mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Kurshus of Lone Pine; brother, Frank of Whittier, James and Danny of Lone Pine, Richard of the U.S. Navy stationed at San Diego and Eddie of Lone Pine and sisters, Patricia Lowe of El Monte and Barbara of Lone Pine; his father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Raper of Olancha. Among other relatives and friends here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Leo Duarte of El Monte, Pat Lowe of Whittier, Mr. and Mrs. John L. Raper from Bishop, Willson Thomas of Yerington, Nevada; Mr. and Mrs. Owen Goodwin, Lancaster; Mrs. Gilbert Dominguez; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Tetreault and family of San Diego; David Stark and Billie Brainard.
