Final Rites Held For George Hall Masonic funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Big Pine community church for George Hall, 72, longtime Inyo county resident who was fatally injured in an automobile accident in Independence Wednesday evening of last week. John Connor of Big Pine officiated as master for Inyo Lodge F. & A. M. ceremonies. Chas. Raymond of Bishop sang "In the Garden," and "Crossing the Bar." Hundreds of friends and Masonic brethren attended the services, in one of the largest funerals ever held in Inyo county. More than 100 wreaths and sprays of flowers banked the church. Mr. Hall was born in Kent, Ill. And came to Inyo county as a boy, his parents being Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Hall, pioneer Inyo residents. His first wife, Christine McDonald, passed away about 1916. To that marriage were born two children, Allen and Doris. The latter died in 1915, an Allen is now a lieutenant colonel with the U. S. Army at Arlington, Va. Later Mr. Hall was married to his present wife, Mrs. Bertha Hall, who was also seriously injured in the Independence crash. For several years he was a partner with Addie McAfee in the Hall and McAfee Hardware in Big Pine. He was one of the original builders of Glacier Lodge in Big Pine canyon, which he and Mrs. Hall later acquired from Walter Dow of Lone Pine. For many years he was justice of the peace in Big Pine, and was in the employee of the Department of Water and Power as water supervisor. He had been particularly active in Masonic circles, had served on Inyo Associates, fish and game clubs, and as secretary of Big Pine Water Co. Interment was in the family plot in Big Pine cemetery where graveside rites were held. Pallbearers were Wesley Newman, Harry Mendenhall, Jesse Thomas, Norm Schalten, Sam McMurry and Robert Blake. Lt. Col. Hall flew here for the services. A complete list of relatives had not been compiled at press time.
