George M. Barre
1913 - 2003

No services will be held for longtime Independence resident George M. Barre, 89.

Born in San Luis Obispo on Nov. 26, 1913, Mr. Barre died on July 13, 2003 in Independence.

George was a carrier naval man for 23 years, serving in World War II and Korea.  After 
retiring from the Navy, and settling in Independence, he was employed by the Department of 
Water and Power for 20 years. 

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy E. Barre of Independence; son and 
daughter-in-law, Edward and Pam Barre of Redlands; daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Jim 
Osborne of Boron; grandson, Michael Barre of Redlands; and granddaughter, Madeline 
Schamehorn of Redlands.
