George Plummer Masonic funeral rites will beheld at 10 a.m. today, Thursday, at Brune, Buck & Talmage mortuary, Bishop, for George Plummer, 79, who passed away last Saturday at Washoe Medical Center, Reno, following a lingering illness. Wilfred Partridge, inspector of the 500th Masonic District, will officiate at the services. Mr. Plummer was born Jan. 26, 1903 in Colefax, Washington, the son of Harry and Mary Plummer. George was active in DeMolay and joined the Masonic order in Colfax. He was married June 8, 1928 in Fresno to Adeline Gil, and they had one son, Don, who now lives in Salinas with his wife, Susan and three sons, Dwayne, Dennis and David. The rest of George’s family have passed on. He attended business college in Spokane before attending the University of Idaho at Moscow. His father had been head of a private college before becoming one of the founders of University of Idaho. Joining the Bank of America in 1928, and just before coming to Bishop after World War II, he had been personnel director for the bank with headquarters in San Francisco. H retired from the bank in 1961, and he and Adeline spent the next several years on trips to various areas of the world. He had been active in Bishop Rotary Club, serving twice as president, and was one of the founders of the District 526 high Sierra Safari which brings several hundred Rotarians and their families to the high Sierra each September. He served for many years as secretary of the Bishop rotary Club before serving his first term as president in 1958-59. He had been active in many area activities, including the Boy Scouts and the Jr. livestock auction, which Bank of America still coordinates. He was also a long time member of the Elks Lodge.
