George W. Newell George W. Newell of 5050 N. Citrus, Covina, died last Thursday in Claremont convalescent hospital. Mr. Newell was born June 28, 1899 in Denver, Colo. Where he was raised. He came to California in 1937 from Denver and lived in Baldwin Park, later he moved to Bridgeport where he lived for six years and for the past 20 years had lived most of the time in Lake Arrowhead spending some of the time at his home in Covina. He had been a Mason for 54 years and was Past Master in 1949 of the Masonic Lodge No. 660 F and AM, Baldwin Park. He also was a member of the High 12 Club, Baldwin Park; a member of Rotary for 14 years in Baldwin Park and 14 years in Lake Arrowhead having perfect attendance in both Rotary Clubs. Mr. Newell was president of the Baldwin Park Elementary School Board from 1946- 1952; a member of the Covina Inter-Community Hospital Board and was in Who's Who in Los Angeles County in 1950-51 publication. Besides his widow, Mrs. Clara Newell; he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Barbara J. Angel of Claremont; a son, Russell R. of Redbluff (Red Bluff); two brothers, James L. and Elmer both of Denver; a sister Mr. Mary Blum also of Denver; and three grand children. Service was held Saturday, April 7 in the Church of Our Heritage, Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Covina Hills. The Baldwin Park Masonic Lodge No. 660 F and AM conducted their ritual.
