Death Calls Former Mono Treasurer, Mrs. Gertrude Smith Mono county this week is mourning the death of Mrs. Gertrude Smith, age about 70, and former Mono county treasurer who died at her home early Wednesday morning. Funeral services had not been set definitely at press time, however indications were that final rites would be held Saturday at Bridgeport. Mrs. Smith had stayed up until midnight Tuesday to see her daughter, Naomi Smith, off on the stage. Her daughter is the present Mono county treasurer, and was leaving to attend the Recorder and Treasurer’s convention at San Diego. The deceased apparently died of natural causes, as she was found in her chair the next morning. She was a native of Bridgeport, and was the wife of the late Dan Smith, a pioneer family of Mono. She was a former member of the Rebekah Lodge. She is survived by her daughter, Naomi of Bridgeport, and a son, West, who drives a school bus for Mammoth Elementary school district.
