Funeral Services Held Tuesday For Henry M. Marcellin Funeral services were held Tuesday by the Rev. J. Hackett Johnson and the Veterans of Foreign Wars for Henry (Hoof) Marcellin who died February 16 at the Northern Inyo Hospital. Marcellin, who retired from the U.S. Marine Corps in 1967 as a master sergeant, had been in the service for more than 22 years. He was born in Bishop Oct. 15, 1921 and was a graduate of the Bishop schools. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in June 1942 and was a veteran of World War II, Korea, Lebanon, Cuba and Vietnam. During World War II he participated in the consolidation of the Northern Solomons, Bismarck Archipelago and Bougainville. Sgt. Marcellin earned the following awards during his career: Navy Unit Citation w/1 star, Good conduct Medal w/5 stars, Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic - Pacific Campaign Medal w/5 stars, National Defense Service Medal w/1 star, World War II Victory Medal, Navy Occupation Medal, China Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal w/2 stars, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, Korean Presidential Unit Citation, and Vietnamese Campaign Medal. He also received two Meritorious Masts during his career, one from VMR-352 El Toro, Calif., for "Operation Strong Back", and the second from MAETC, Glenview, Ill., for his performance of duty as Flight Engineer for MARTC Staff Aircraft. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Rose Marcellin of Bishop, five brothers, Gene, Roger and Don Marcellin of Bishop, Robert Marcellin of Mammoth Lakes and Wayne Marcellin of Livermore, California. Interment was at the East Line St. cemetery. Pallbears were George Clarkson Jr., Linden Holland, Howard Arcularius, Frank Arcularius, Emilis Piani, and Vernon Holland.
