Ila Schaumann Carr 1922 - 2003 Graveside services for Lone Pine resident Ila Schaumann Carr, 80, will be held on Wednesday, June 18, at the Mt. Whitney Cemetery in Lone Pine at 11 a.m. Pastor Ben Sparks of the Mt. Whitney Baptist Church will officiate, with rites by the Order of Eastern Star. Additionally, a viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 17 at the Owens Valley Mortuary from 4-6 p.m. Born Oct. 31, 1922 in Fort Smith, Ark., to Robert L. and Dessie Rains, Mrs. Carr died at her home on June 14, 2003. Ila first married Carl Schaumann, who died in 1972. She later married Albert Carr, who died in 1999. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. An avid gardener, seamstress and craftswoman, she loved baseball, and enjoyed watching it with her close friend Gracie Montgomery. Ila was loved and respected by those around her and those whose lives she touched. Ila was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Robert L. Rains; and stepfather, Adam Mertz. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Kathe and Dave Flegel of Lone Pine; daughter, Carol Nay Blount of El Dorado, Ark.; grandchildren, Tammy Flegel of Golden Valley, Ariz., Dessie Tippett of Barstow, Cathey Lawrence of Santa Maria, David Flegel of Moscow, Idaho, Deanna Nay of Berryville, Ark., and Virginia Hutchings of Huntsville, Ark.; great-grandchildren, Amanda Dennis, Adam Hartjen, David Tippett, Marissa Tippett, Matthew Flegel, Tearra Nay, Corey Hutchings and Michael McCollum; and niece, Linda Hart of Long Beach. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pioneer Home Health Care, at 162 E. Line St. in Bishop, 93514, or to the Eastern Star.
