Irene E. Crouse
1914 - 2003

Visitation will be held for former Bishop resident Irene E. Crouse, 88, on Saturday, July 19, at 
the Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home in Yerington, Nev. From 6 - 8 p.m., and on Sunday, July 20, from 
1 - 4 p.m.  A Rosary will be said on Sunday, July 20, at the Holy Family Catholic Church in 
Yerington at 7 p.m.  Funeral Mass will be hdl on Monday, July 21, at the Holy Family Catholic 
Church at 10 a.m.

Born to Henry and Rose (Malone) Schmidt on Oct. 18, 1914 in Ellinwood, Kansas, Mrs. Crouse died on 
Wednesday, July 16, at South Lyon Medical Center in Yerington.

In 1933, Irene married Melvin Crouse in Russell Springs, Kansas and 1941 they moved to Bishop.  In 
1952, Irene and the family moved to Weed Heights, Nev., where Mervin was employed by Anaconda 
Corporation.

Irene and Mervin raised 11 children.  She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, St. 
Ann's Guild and was a past member of the hospital auxiliary.  She was a talented seamstress, sewing 
beautiful clothes for her children and making many quilts and stuffed animals for her grandchildren.

She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, and four children, Greg, Margaret Greathouse, Teri Bucher 
and Lois Blanton.

Irenen is survived by children, Myrna McGowan and husband Frank, Cindy Booth and husband Willie of 
Yerington, Carol Turner and husband Paul of Fallon, Nev., Mark Crouse of Carson City, Nev., Norma 
Sacchini and husband Leroy of Bakersfield, Dwight Crouse and wife Doris of Sheridan, Wyo., and 
Kathy Crouse of Cairo, Egypt; 37 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and five great-great-
grandchildren.

Donation may be made in her memory to the South Lyon Medical Center Auxiliary at P.O. Box 940, 
Yerington, NV  89447.

Interment will be in the family plot at Valley View Cemetery.
