James Barney James Barney died Friday. His age was 38 years, 6 months. “Jim” Barney gave his life for his fellows as much as though he had been a soldier in the trenches. Early in the local epidemic he began helping to care for the sick, moving them to the hospitals and helping in those places. The women who have heroically borne The burdens of nursing speak most earnestly regarding his aid. He became ill during that service, and was convinced from the first that he would not recover. He had been in this locality for several years, most of the time as an employee of the Mono Power Company. A sister, Mrs. Anna Warnke, of Nevada City, Cal., telegraphed directions for shipment of the remains, but the message did not arrive until too late.
