Ed Rose James Edward, usually known as Ed Rose died in Reno Tuesday. His brother Charles N. Rose had been called to Reno a few days before by news of his serious condition. Ed Rose was born at Independence about 64 years ago, the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. James N. Rose, pioneers there. As a boy, he served as a jockey for the fast horses which were being frequently raced in the county at that time, Black Harry, Inyo's most noted racer, being his special mount. In later years he was in the cattle business. A sister, Mrs. J. C. Hodge, and brother Charles N. Rose, a daughter, Mrs. F. W. Ahrens of Reno, and a son, A. E. Rose, of Reno, survive him. The funeral will be at Independence Sunday. The Inyo Register Bishop, Inyo County, California Thursday, December 1, 1932 Transcribed by Pat Houser for Inyo County GenWeb, July 17, 2004
