Funeral Pending for Mrs. George Thorpe, former Bishop Woman

Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Taylor received word Wednesday of the death of an old friend, 
Mrs. George Thorpe of Meeks Bay, Tahoe.

She is the former Janie Rhead who lived in Bishop and attended Grammar school at 
the old West Bishop school.  She later attended the Bishop Union High School.  She 
and Mrs. Florence Taylor used to drive seven miles to and from school via horse and 
buggy.

The Thorpes were in Bishop October 17 to attend the golden wedding anniversary of 
the Taylors.  Besides her husband George, she leaves a son Don of Long Beach, and a 
daughter Doris Bray of Ventura, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
