Lavine Helen Meysan Harned 1916-2003 Graveside services for Lavine Helen Meysan Harned, 87, former long-time Lone Pine resident, will be held Saturday, May 10, 2 p.m., at the Mt. Whitney Cemetery in Lone Pine. The last surviving member of the Meysan family, an early pioneer family from Lone Pine, Lavine was born to Phillip P. and Martha Ellen Hancock Meysan on Feb. 11, 1916, in Lone Pine. She died April 25, 2003 at her residence in Live Oak, Calif., where she lived with her daughter. She attended Lone Pine schools, and later worked for many years as a beautician at her sister Zelia Myers’ beauty shop in her home at the east end of Bush Street in Lone Pine. She married Charles E. Harned and four children were born to the couple in Lone Pine. In 1961, Charles acquired a plumbing business and the family moved to Glendale. Charles died July 10, 1963. Survivors include son, Dennis Harned of Marysville; twin daughters, Arlene Foster of Paradise, and Eileen Epperson of Live Oak; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Also preceding her in death were son, Charles E. Harned; three sisters, Zelia Myers, Elodie Drew, and Patty Meysan; and three brothers, Vincent, Phillip, and Charles H. Meysan.
