Leila Maybelle Enfield Mayor Goold of Newkirk, Nebraska, owner of a carriage business, proudly announced his fourth arrival, Leila Maybelle Goold on November 3, 1884. Born of pioneer stock, Goold later answered the challenge of homesteading and took his young family with him to Oklahoma. Leila's frontier education was topped by a Park College experience where students did all necessary work of a community in addition to their book studies. Coming to Southern California in 1903, Leila met and married her schoolteacher husband, Oscar D. Enfield. While raising three sons, they enjoyed the towns of Anaheim, Highland, San Dimas and Los Angeles. Always active in some community project, Leila has enjoyed her volunteer work at the Northern Inyo Hospital as the capping climax. Leila Enfield is survived by a sister Florence Carr of Independence, Missouri, a brother, Rollin Goold of Stockton, California and two sons, John Enfield of Chico, California and Rollin O. Enfield of Bishop. There are eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
