Lillian Nelson Funeral services will be held for 79-year Big Pine and Owens Valley resident Lillian Nelson, 83, on Wednesday, Jan. 15, at the Big Pine Community United Methodist Church at 1 p.m. Reverend Dr. Karen Moore will officiate. Additionally, friends may call on the Brune and Buck Mortuary on Wednesday from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Born in Wabuska, Nev. on April 30, 1919, Mrs. Nelson died on Jan. 11, 2003 at the Bishop Care Center. Lillian was active as a G.I. Mom, and was recognized for her untiring efforts in support of American G.I.'s. She is survived by her son, Richard Nelson of Missoula, Mont., son, Tom and wife Brenda of Elkridge, Utah, son, Harry and wife Linda of Mission Viejo, Calif., son, Larry and wife Kathy of Bishop; brother, Alphonse Nikolaus of Independence, brother, James Nikolaus of Big Pine, brother, Donald Nikolaus of Big Pine; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Donations in her name may be made to the Alzheimer's support group of the First United Methodist Church at 205 N. Fowler St., Bishop, CA, 93514. Interment will be at the Big Pine Cemetery.
