Lois Nadine Thayer 1923 - 2003 A service will be held at a later date for former Independence resident Lois Nadine Thayer, 80. Born April 9, 1923, Lois died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003 at Baptist Village in Waycross, Ga. following a long illness. She was a native of Humboldt, Kan., but had resided most of her life in Independence. Lois was married to her first husband, the late William E. Kester, and her second husband, the late William H. Thayer. She was the daughter of the late Charles E. Kelley and Della Newman Kelley. Lois was a retired administrative assistant and was a member of Pioneer Memorial Methodist Church in Independence. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Tommy Moore of Waycross; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Jean Kester of Gardnerville, Nev.; four grandchildren, Michelle Smoak, Kristen Moore, Carly Kester and Kacey D.C.; and one great-grandson, Caden James Smoak. Per the family's request, memorial donations may be given to Pioneer Memorial Methodist Church, 157 N. Washington St., Independence, CA 93526 Music Funeral Home of Waycross is in charge of Lois' arrangements.
