Loyd Marvin Alcorn 1902-2004 Memorial services were held at the Alcorn family plot in the Fallon Cemetery in Fallon, Nev. for former Owens Valley resident Loyd Marvin Alcorn. Loyd was born in Stonington, Colo. on March 7, 1902 to Willam H. Alcorn and Delpha E. Konkel Alcorn. He died at a Reno, Nev. Hospital on Aug. 26, 2004 due to complications following a fall. The Alcorn family moved to the Owens Valley when Loyd was a boy. He spent his youth on the Tinnemeha Ranch south of Big Pine and graduated from Bishop Union High School in the 1920s. After being employed by the Standard Oil Co. for 28 years, he moved to Ojai. He stayed there for a number of years before retiring to Fallon in 1970, where he remained until his death. Loyd was preceded in death by his wife, Berniece; sister, Velma Watkins; and brothers, Ray and Earl Alcorn. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Lyle Ruppre of Big Pine; sister-in-law, “Cappy” Alcorn of Fallon; and four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
