Luis Lopez, Jr. 1941-2004 Graveside services will beheld at noon Saturday, Dec. 4 at the Mt. Whitney Cemetery for former Lone Pine resident Luis Lopez, Jr. Born in Bakersfield on June 10, 1941, Luis died Nov. 25, 2004 at Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital in Whittier. He was 63. Luis lived for a short time in Bakersfield before the family moved to the Owens Valley where Luis attended grade school in Cartago. He attended two years at Lone Pine High School and then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. After he was honorably discharged, Luis moved back to Lone Pine where his daughter was born. Later he moved to Los Angeles where his son was born. Luis is survived by his daughter, Robyn Adayr Lopez Ross, and her husband, jerry; son Cruz Luis Lopez of Victorville; Father, Luis Lopez, Sr. of Washington; brothers and sisters-in-law, Henry and Jeanne Lopez of Keeler, Victor and Sharon Silvas of Lone Pine and Richard and Debbie Silvas of Reno, Nev.; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Helen and Lencho Vasquez of Whittier; sisters, Emily Knox of Oakdale, Manervia McCleary of Las Vegas and Silvia Wellman of Reno; and longtime companion, Sylvia Morales of Victorville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
