Mark James Jones 1965 - 2003 Funeral services for lifelong Owens Valley resident Mark James Jones will be held on Saturday, May 31, at the Brune and Buck Mortuary Chapel at 11 a.m. Additionally, a viewing will be held on Friday, May 30, from 12 - 9 p.m. at the Brune and Buck Mortuary. Interment and a cry dance will follow at the Woodman Cemetery in Big Pine. Born Oct. 22, 1965 in Bishop, Mark died in Big Pine on May 26, 2003. Mark was an extremely talented local Indian artist. He redefined his craft at making fine Native American jewelry using elk horn and deer antler as his medium. He loved to be with his friends and family. He had a big heart for his Native people always laughing, smiling and joking. He enjoyed bicycling, carving, fishing and arrowhead hunting and a good cook. Mark touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all. He was preceded in death by his mother, Velma L. Jones. Mark is survived by father, Clarence Jones; brother, Jack Jones; sisters, Genevieve and Ramona Jones; aunts, Hazel Rambeau and Charlotte Bacoch, both of Big Pine; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
